These are the organizations that we worked with at one point or another during our adoption process. The two adoption agencies that we used were Holt International Children's Services and Lutheran Ministries of Georgia. We feel very fortunate to have found these two wonderful, supportive and most helpful groups of dedicated people.
Without their help I don't know what we would have done. With their help and support we, of course, now have a beautiful daughter and there just aren't any words that can adequately express our gratitude...
These people know what they are doing. The not only found us some awesome fares, the also helped set up a little three day add-on vacation in Beijing through one of their Beijing contacts.
After considering a few different pediatricians, we settled on the Children's Medical Group in Atlanta. We liked their staff and Emma's doctor-to-be, Dr. Thomas Calk. One reason for our decision was that Dr. Calk has several other Asian adopted children as patients and is quite familiar with their medical needs.
I had hoped to use our Frequent Flyer Miles to buy our plane tickets but it didn't work out. Here's their number just in case you want to give it a try.
The Travel Well Clinic provided us with the advice on which immunizations we would need for our trip to China. Once we decided which of their recommendations we wanted to go along with, they administered the immunizations.
| Families With Children From China
|
FCC Atlanta is a local chapter of the national Families With Children From China. They keep a directory of members and hold several events throughout the year for families who have adopted and are in the process of adopting from China.
| Holt International Children's Services
|
Holt handled all of our international adoption processing and kept us very well informed on the ongoing situations in China.
| International Adoption Consultants
|
Cheryl Jones of International Adoption Consultants worked with us (through LMG) to get our dossier completed. She let us know what documents, dates, etc. that she needed and she did the rest. She was truly amazing!
| Lutheran Ministries of Georgia
|
LMG worked with us locally in Atlanta and with Holt to make sure all our paperwork was in order. They provided us with adoption counseling, support and education. On a regular basis LMG organized events for waiting families and helped to make the wait bearable.Through them we had the opportunity to visit with and talk to other adoptive families, learn about and from their experiences and even talk to their adopted and biological children about their experiences in their blended families. LMG conducted our Home Study and assigned an adoption consultant to us to get our paperwork completed and our dossier assembled.
I don't remember why we contacted the U.S. Department of State, but they were in my ACT! database so we must have used them for something...
