From the time we decided to embark on our journey to adopt Emma Caroline, we knew we'd do it again. However, we didn't really plan when we would begin the second adoption. Then, in June of 1998, Lutheran Ministries called to let us know that the INS was changing their process and their fees as of July 1. If we wanted to adopt again under the current set of rules and fees, we had to get our INS paperwork filed before July 1. That's how we decided on when. From that point on we were once again caught up in all the paperwork, home study, under the magnifying glass stuff. This time however, it was much easier. We weren't so stressed and didn't feel the need to blaze through the process in seconds flat. This time we knew that there was a little girl out there (or soon would be as it turned out) and that our paths would cross when the time was right. All we had to do was look in that direction and do the things that would take us there (i.e. mountains of paperwork)...
